The 27-year-old went 3-2 with a 1.50 ERA in nine regular-season starts, striking out 42 in in 42 innings and recording a WHIP of 1.17.
He allowed one run in 7 1/3 innings during the playoffs as the Giants finished runner-up to the Aces.
Kines told MelbourneAces.com.au he was excited to join the defending champions.
“I wanted to sign with the Aces because I liked how they approached the game and the great mentality of their core players was noticeable even while being on the other side of the field playing against them,” Kines said.
“I look forward to meeting the team and coaches and getting back to work on the mound.”
Kines led all pitchers with his 1.50 ERA during the 2019/20 regular-season.
That mark ranked 9th all-time for single-season ERA among qualified pitchers in the ABL’s 10 seasons.
Both of the homers Kines gave up last season came against Melbourne.
Luke Hughes and Delmon Young took him deep.
Kines was drafted by Miami in 2015 and made 23 Minor League appearances across the Marlins and Mets’ farm systems between.
He last played affiliated ball in 2017.
In 2019 he complied a 2.36 ERA with Schaumburg Boomers in the Frontier League.
