The Little League Challenger Division® was founded in 1989, and is Little League’s adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges.
Perth kids get the chance to play through Challenger Baseball, a modified baseball program for school-age kids with intellectual and physical challenges. Every player has a buddy that helps them throughout the game and keeps them safe. The program is partnered with and supported by Wanneroo Giants Baseball Club Inc.
Challenger Baseball was started by Matt and Barbara so their son could play diamond sports with his siblings. This is the only Challenger Division in Australia, however, there are approximately 950 Challenger Division Leagues in 10 countries around the world.
Wanneroo has 19 participants in the program with 25 buddies, really solidifying that baseball is for everyone.
