Team Australia infielder re-signs with Heat

Perth has secured the signature of Boral Team Australia infielder Robbie Glendinning ahead of the upcoming season.

The 24-year-old Pittsburgh prospect is a career .343 hitter 89 regular-season ABL games and averaged .335 with seven homers and 35 RBIs last season.

He represented Australia at last year’s Premier12.

Glendinning, who is currently in the US, told PerthHeat.com.au he was keen to get back in action following the cancellation of the Minor League season.

“Perth have a great clubhouse led by our local Aussie players and it’s on us collectively to lead the way,” he said.

“We have a continuous goal to win championships in Perth and it’s been way too long since the last one.

“With the group we have and a great leader with Andy Kyle, I feel we have the necessary parts to win a championship.”

Glendinning was drafted by the Pirates in 2017.

He has played 189 MiLB games, including 58 at Double-A.

Glendinning averages .274 in the minors.

The Heat opens the season against Canberra on December 18.
