Team Australia Makes History at Inaugural Youth Baseball5 World Cup

Team Australia enjoyed an action-packed week at the inaugural Youth Baseball5 World Cup, playing alongside 11 other countries in the historic event.

The mixed-gender team, made up of players from New South Wales and Victoria, battled in Group B vs Korea, France, Taiwan, Ghana, and Mexico to start the tournament, which ran from 10-15 October in Ankara, Türkiye.

Australia got their first win against Zambia in the placement round and made amazing lifelong memories while showcasing the potential of Baseball5 across the region. They competed for their first time together on a World Cup stage, representing their country in this rapidly growing sport.

This was the first Australian side to partake in a WBSC Baseball5 World Cup since its inception, which has created a unique pathway for our athletes into future World Cup and Youth Olympic teams.

Congratulations to all involved on their great efforts - this is just the beginning of Baseball5 in Oceania!
